SPENCER — Senior Amir Alexander had a career game for North Rowan on Friday with 26 points.
His great effort wasn’t rewarded with a win, as visiting Carson also had a player enjoying a career game.
Freshman CP Perry scored 33 points and led Carson to a 79-64 victory in the North gym.
It was the third straight triumph for the Cougars (6-5), who got 20 points from Jacob Mills and 12 from Drew Neve. They also are members of a Carson freshman class that is growing up ahead of schedule.
Perry had scored 23 twice this season, but this was a breakout game for him. He had nine rebounds and six assists.
Mills scored 27 on opening night. This was his biggest scoring game since then. He had a big game in the gym where his father, Josh, starred for the Cavaliers in the early 1990s.
Neve scored 17 recently in a South Piedmont Conference win at Lake Norman Charter.
All three Carson freshmen played on the varsity squad at Rockwell Christian last season as eighth-graders.
Carson took a 39-25 halftime lead and expanded the lead to 60-42 after three quarters. The Cavaliers (5-5) picked up their scoring pace in the fourth quarter, but it was a comfortable win for the Cougars.
Jonah Drye made three 3-pointers for the Cougars.
Jayden Polk scored 15 for North. George Maxwell had 11.
MaxPreps is showing North Rowan with a forfeit win in the Central Carolina Conference over East Davidson from last week’s “postponement.” If that’s the case, North is 6-5.
