SPENCER — While North Rowan’s boys basketball didn’t scare any future opponents on Wednesday, the Cavaliers did get another Central Carolina Conference win.
North prevailed 58-55 against West Davidson, avoiding what would have been a disastrous home loss in the CCC race.
West Davidson led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but the Cavaliers dominated the second quarter, 21-4, and took a 34-18 halftime lead.
After that, the Cavaliers did enough to hang on.
“In the second half, we were really poor on offense and that put a lot of stress on our defense,” North head coach Jason Causby said. “But we did lead just about all the way.”
North only made three 3-pointers. Jaemias Morrow was responsible for all three. Two of Morrow’s triples helped spark the Cavaliers in that decisive second quarter.
North (6-5, 3-0) got 12 points from Morrow and 11 each from Jerricho Charleston and Amir Alexander. Jayden Polk added nine.
Colson Priddy and Caleb Brown scored 16 each to lead West Davidson (5-10, 0-4).
