Rowan Chamber host South Africa trip briefing Feb. 13

SALISBURY — The Rowan Chamber of Commerce will conduct a South Africa trip briefing on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 4 p.m. at the Paul E. Fisher Gateway Building, located at 204 E. Innes St. Representatives from Quest Voyager will present a webinar about the trip and answer questions from interested community members. You are welcome to attend in person or via Zoom.

The Rowan Chamber is hosting this trip to South Africa from Oct. 21-29. The Rowan Chamber has previously conducted trips to Peru, Cuba, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Spain and Croatia. The trip is offered through Quest Voyager; however, any Rowan Chamber member travel agent may book the trip for local participants.

“Embark on an unforgettable journey with us and explore the wonders of South Africa,” said Chamber President Elaine Spalding. “We’ll start our trip in Johannesburg, the region’s economic hub, and explore Soweto’s culture and apartheid history, including attractions such as the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Nelson Mandela’s House. Then, we’ll head for a safari adventure in Pilanesberg Park, home to the renowned Big Five and a diverse selection of animals, including zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, wild dog and antelope.”

“We’ll capture stunning photos of the African landscape in a 4×4 vehicle and then travel to the Cape Winelands to explore the vineyards, sample local wines, and stroll through the quaint village of Stellenbosch. We’ll visit Cape Town and Table Mountain, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Afterward, we’ll witness the majestic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the world’s largest waterfall. Finally, we’ll relax with incredible views and amazing wildlife on a spectacular sunset cruise on the majestic Zambezi River.”

Friends and family members of local community members are welcome to join the group. The trip includes an air and land package from Washington Dulles Airport (direct flight to Cape Town). The Early Bird price is $4,949 per person, if reservations are made by March 6.
