SALISBURY — The Rowan County Republican Party is hosting a forum for the Republican candidates that will be on the primary in March.
The forum will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Rowan Public Library Stanback Auditorium, 201 W. Fisher St. in Salisbury.
There are currently two open seats on the Rowan County Board of Commissioners that are up for election this year and there are four candidates who have filed to run as Republicans: Mike Caskey, Craig Pierce, Angie Spillman and Jonathan Barbee.
All four candidates have been invited to be a part of this event. It will be moderated by N.C. Sen. Carl Ford, a former Rowan County commissioner. After brief introductions, Ford will be asking questions to each candidate regarding the role of commissioner and how they would approach different facets of the job.
This event will give voters a chance to meet the candidates and find out their viewpoints on current issues facing Rowan County. All voters are encouraged to attend. It is critical for all voters to have the opportunity to research all candidates before going to the polls on Election Day.
