ROWAN COUNTY — An overnight fire in northern Rowan County left two people and their dog displaced.
The incident began at approximately 12:45 on Tuesday morning and involved a single-wide mobile home, located in the 800 block of Long Bow Road. When crews from Ellis Cross County Fire Department arrived at the home, they found heavy fire showing from the building. Spencer Fire Department said that they assisted with the efforts in a post on Facebook.
The two occupants, both adults, and their dog were not injured in the fire, a spokesperson for the Red Cross confirmed. All three were displaced by the damage and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The Red Cross spokesperson said that the flames were likely started by improper use of a heating device inside the building.
