SALISBURY — A fire that damaged a home in Salisbury on Friday is being investigated by police as potential arson.
The fire began on Friday morning at approximately 9:15 a.m. in an unoccupied house, located in the 400 block of South Caldwell Street. Emergency personnel from the Salisbury Fire Department, Miller’s Ferry Fire Department and Rowan Rescue Squad responded and were able to get a quick knockdown on the fire.
Police are now investigating the fire as a potential arson case. A Salisbury Police Department spokesperson said that it currently appears to have been started by a squatter in the home, noting that the fire marshal found that the gas and power were still running and electrical devices were found in the kitchen.
