The Carolina Pines (NC) Chapter of the Links, Inc., in partnership with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury, is hosting Rowan County’s inaugural Black Family Wellness Expo.
It will be held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Avenue in Salisbury, on March 23 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The free expo event is a part of a national effort by the non-profit to address health, educational and economic disparities that negatively impact the health and quality of life of the Black community members.
The expo is designed around kidney health and wellness. There will be a station to check blood pressure, dental screenings, eye care information provided by the Lion’s Club of Salisbury, diabetic A1C checks, mental health evaluations, dietary evaluations and menu planning. Healthcare professionals will be available to answer questions and provide resources.
Other topics including voter registration will also be covered at the expo with informational resources.
The chapter will also have giveaways like bicycles, provided by the Pedal Factory of Salisbury, music, exercise stations and free healthy snacks.
Under the leadership of Barbara Wilson Propst, president of the Carolina Pines (NC) Chapter of the Links, Inc., the organization is asking the community to come out, rain or shine, and take part in this event. This event is for all those who are interested in their health including local community members, visitors from Rowan, Cabarrus and surrounding counties.
