SALISBURY — Opportunities for jobs abound in Salisbury as both a job fair and career expo will be offered over the next few weeks.
Coming March 21, multiple local employers will be at the New Beginnings Job Fair at the Goodwill Career Connections, 1923 S. Main St., Salisbury from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Employers and staffing agencies that are scheduled to be at the job fair include Ally Home Care, Easter Seals, Employbridge, Hollywood Bed, Monroe Staffing, N.C. Dept of Adult Corrections, Novant Health, Onin Staffing, Packaging Corporation of America, The Resource, Salisbury Rowan Community Action Agency Head Start, Trinity Oaks and Universal Forest Products.
Representatives from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will also be there to provide information about course offerings.
Those seeking jobs are encouraged to attend and should bring copies of their resumé and dress professionally.
For questions or assistance preparing for the job fair, contact the center at 704-638-6434.
A second opportunity, the Aspire & Hire Community Career Expo will be held April 9 with a goal of connecting local employers with both existing and emerging workforce.
The expo, offered in two different sessions, will be at West End Plaza, 1935 Jake Alexander Blvd. W, Salisbury.
The first session will target Rowan-Salisbury School high school seniors who are ready to enter the workforce and college-bound students seeking networking and internship opportunities. The aim, as shared in a release, is to spotlight the diverse career opportunities within Rowan County, motivating youth to consider and commit to local employment paths.
The afternoon session is open to all job seekers and will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m., showcasing 50 of Rowan County’s leading employers across various industries.
Those attending the expo will have the opportunity to network with hiring managers and recruiters, participate in onsite interviews and explore potential job offers.
Advance registration for this session is available on Eventbrite. For assistance with registration, visit the NCWorks’ Career Center, 1904 S. Main St., Salisbury, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Last year’s event saw 200 students attend and more than 100 community members talking with about 50 employers.
Expectations are set for an even greater turnout, it was noted in the release.
The event is supported by a number of groups, including Rowan Partner’s for Education, the Rowan-Salisbury Schools CTE Program, Rowan EDC, Rowan Chamber, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, NCWorks, NCWorks Next Gen, and Novant Health.
“The chamber’s Workforce Development Alliance is pleased to work with our community partners on spring and fall job fairs,” said Elaine Spalding, Rowan Chamber president. “The April 9 event gives employers, job seekers and students an opportunity to connect.”
Rowan County employers are invited to register for a complimentary booth, providing them an opportunity to showcase what the company offers.
