SALISBURY — No one was injured and no residents have been displaced after Salisbury firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire on Sunday night.
Firefighters with the Salisbury Fire Department responded to a home in the 500 block of Park Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. after a neighbor across the street noticed the front porch on fire, said an official with the Red Cross. The resident of the home was not inside when the fire started. The fire was ruled under control by 7:45 p.m.
The fire was mostly contained to the front of the home, especially the front porch area. The Red Cross official said that the two front rooms on the first and second floors both suffered fire, smoke and water damage.
The Red Cross offered to assist the residents with housing and any other needs, but the official said that the residents decided to board up the damaged areas and live in the home while it is being repaired.
Salisbury fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
