SALISBURY — WellCare of North Carolina (WellCare), the Medicaid brand and wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, kicked off a series of block party events across North Carolina, beginning December 2023 and running through April, to foster engagement and share the value-add of Medicaid in North Carolina. The next event will be held in Salisbury on Saturday.

Serving individuals and families in North Carolina with the quality healthcare services they deserve since 2021, WellCare will host the block party events to provide comprehensive support, education and resources that focus on enhancing the health, well-being and empowerment of the state’s Medicaid beneficiaries.

Providing access to high-quality, affordable and culturally sensitive healthcare, WellCare is committed to ensuring that all its members have access to the resources that help them live fuller, healthier lives.

This grassroots initiative aims to bring together Medicaid beneficiaries, healthcare providers and community organizations to provide education, services and resources to attendees around newly launched Medicaid Expansion, the Medicaid eligibility renewal process and essential services designed to improve health outcomes.

The event will take place on March 30 from noon to 4 p.m. in Downtown Salisbury at the Bell Tower Green, located at 130 S. Main Street, Salisbury.

This family-friendly event will include:

• Information booths: Sharing information to help beneficiaries understand Medicaid benefits, the Medicaid eligibility renewal process, and Medicaid expansion, as well as all WellCare resources and available community services designed to improve health outcomes.
• Community engagement and networking: Opportunities for attendees, WellCare, and its partners to connect and foster a sense of community and support.
• Accessibility and inclusivity: Event locations will be accessible by public transportation and will accommodate individuals with disabilities.

In addition, this block party event will include the following entertainment and giveaways available to attendees:

• Game truck
• Selfie station
• Free refreshments and snacks
• Community resources
• Raffles

This event will drive forward WellCare’s ‘Above and Beyond’ approach and overarching purpose to partner with low-income individuals, pregnant women, children, seniors, veterans and their families and people with disabilities who meet the income and eligibility requirements for North Carolina Medicaid, as well as those who gain access to healthcare coverage under Medicaid expansion.
