Farmers markets are growing in downtown Salisbury with the introduction of a new one, Church Street Market, and organizers are inviting the community to be a part of shaping its future.
In anticipation of this new pursuit, a special interest meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. Hosted by First United Methodist Church, 217 South Church St., Salisbury, the aim of the meeting, as noted in a release, is “to engage the community in discussions surrounding the development and organization of Church Street Market.”
Both prospective vendors, whether seasoned or new growers, aspiring entrepreneurs and interested neighbors are encouraged to attend and share their visions and ideas for the market. The release said that organizers are eager to hear diverse perspectives and ensure that the farmers market reflects the unique character and needs of Salisbury and its residents.
“We believe that a weekday farmers market will not only provide access to fresh, locally sourced products but also serve as a gathering place for the community,” said Jen Fogt, one of the key organizers of the initiative. “This meeting is an opportunity for everyone to come together, share their thoughts, and help us build something truly special for Salisbury.”
The intended launch date for the market is May 15 and will be offered every Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. during the summer months on the lawn of the church.
Church Street Market, according to the release, is intended to provide an opportunity to celebrate local agriculture, support small businesses and foster connections within the community.
