LANDIS — South Rowan pulled out a wild 9-8 South Piedmont Conference victory against Central Cabarrus on Friday on Drew Pegram’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh.

Conner Coy had a double and a single for the Raiders. Drew Blackwell drove in two runs.

South (8-7, 4-5) plays at Carson on Monday.

HUNTERSVILLE — Logan Dyer pitched a one-hitter as East Rowan crushed Lake Norman Charter 12-0 in South Piedmont Conference action on Friday.

The Catawba recruit struck out five and walked two in a five-inning game. Dyer is 5-0.

East (15-1, 10-1) got homers from Cobb Hightower and Harrison Ailshie. It was the fourth of the season for both sluggers.

Hightower also had a double and drove in two runs.

McCall Henderson had two doubles. Sam Blackwelder had two hits.

East took advantage of eight errors by LNC (9-4, 7-4).

East has only one lost SPC game, while everyone else in the league has at least four losses.

MOUNT ULLA — West Cabarrus scored two runs in the top of the first, but West Rowan shut out the Wolverines the rest of the way and won Friday’s non-conference matchup, 11-2.

West Rowan (11-4) scored steadily against the Wolverines (3-11), including a five-run fourth inning.

Drew Burton was the winning pitcher, striking out six in four innings. Cole Blevins, Alex Hagler and Brant Graham got some work, throwing an inning apiece.

Gags Scruggs, Andrew Hembold and Brice Knox drove in two runs each for the Falcons. A double by Scruggs was the only extra-base hit, but Luke Ponczka had three single to lead an 11-hit assault.

West Rowan will return to South Piedmont Conference action on Tuesday at Central Cabarrus.

SALISBURY — East Davidson walloped Salisbury 12-2 in Central Carolina Conference action on Friday.

The Golden Eagles (8-5, 6-0) moved into a tie for first place in the league.

“Eight walks, four errors and we had no offense,” Salisbury coach Carson Herndon said.

The Hornets (4-9, 3-5) will have a chance to bounce back at Lexington on Tuesday.

CHINA GROVE — Robinson’s Jacob Barbee struck out eight and pitched a three-hitter as the Bulldogs surprised Carson 5-0 in South Piedmont Conference action on Friday.

Robinson (8-8, 5-6) took charge with a three-run third inning.

Gage Trexler pitched into fifth inning for the Cougars.

Daxton Savage, Cam Williamson and Will Bradshaw had hits for Carson (8-7, 6-4).

SPENCER — North Hills Christian won 19-9 at North Rowan on Friday.

Chris Barringer went 4-for-4 with two homers and scored five run for the Eagles (5-6).

He was also the winning pitcher and struck out 11 Cavaliers (0-8)

KANNAPOLIS – A.L. Brown topped Mooresville 10-9 in a Greater Metro Conference game on Friday.
