High school softball roundup: Carson wins, but Raiders, Wonders fall

CHINA GROVE — Carson’s softball team made it two wins in a row by beating Robinson 12-6 on Friday.
A six-run bottom of the fifth keyed the South Piedmont Conference victory.
Caylee Snow pitched a complete game and struck out nine for the Cougars (3-11, 2-7).
Snow also had two RBIs.
McKenzie Powers had two hits and three RBIs. Alyssa Benner had two hits and two RBIs.
Evie White had a double and scored two runs.
Wendy Craig had a double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (4-9, 2-9).

LANDIS — Central Cabarrus stayed right behind East Rowan in the South Piedmont Conference by pounding South Rowan 17-3 on Friday.
It was 5-1 after four innings, but the Vikings (11-3, 9-1) scored six in the fifth and six in the sixth to end it early.
South (6-7-1, 5-5) had five hits and five walks, but couldn’t put a big inning together.
Kynlee Dextraze, Eva Shue, Carmen Thomas, Avery Fisher and Leisha Carter had hits for the Raiders. Dextraze and Fisher had RBIs.
South will look to bounce back on Tuesday at Concord.

HARRISBURG — Hickory Ridge (10-3, 6-1) scored nine runs in the first inning and walloped A.l. Brown 19-4 in Friday’s Greater Metro Conference game.
The Wonders (4-7, 2-3) got two doubles from Marynda Blackwelder and two RBIs from Shyla Campbell.
Chloe Woodward homered for the Bulls. Katelyn Kiser smacked three doubles and drove in four runs.
The Wonders are hosting Lake Norman in a doubleheader on Monday.
