Catawba’s Payne Stolsworth (West Rowan) has been named South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Stolsworth, a graduate student who transferred from N.C. Wesleyan, tossed a two-hit shutout in 21st-ranked Catawba’s 11-0 win over Mars Hill on Saturday, part of the series sweep and a 4-0 week for the Catawba Indians. He allowed just one walk over seven innings, while striking out 11 batters.

He also recorded a scoreless inning of relief in Catawba’s win over USC Aiken.

His eight wins  are tied for most in the SAC this season.
