KANNAPOLIS — Strong pitching by Matthew Blume and Drew Ryan lifted A.L. Brown to a 2-1 win against Concord in the annual John Thacket Foundation game played at Atrium Health Ballpark on Monday.
Blume held the Spiders to one hit for five innings, while striking out seven.
Ryan pitched the sixth and seventh for the save.
Mason Cook and Jesse Morton had RBIs for the Wonders (7-11)
Cook and Jakeb Johnson had two hits.
Neil Hammill pitched a complete game for Concord (3-15).

SALISBURY — Salisbury pounded North Meck 14-3 in Monday’s non-conference game.
The Hornets scored seven runs in the fourth inning and won in five.
Jackson Sparger had a unique day, as he helped the Hornets win a golf match at Corbin Hills, then got to the baseball field in time to pitch two innings and close the game.
Hank Webb pitched three innings for the win.
Webb and Aiden Mowery had two hits for the Hornets (9-9).
Alex Beall drove in three for the Vikings (10-9).
