CHINA GROVE — A lone female motorist was injured as the result of a single-vehicle collision that occurred in China Grove on Wednesday.

The vehicle, a blue mid-sized SUV, was overturned after striking a telephone utility pole on the righthand side of the northbound lane of North Main Street near the intersection with Vance Street shortly before 9 a.m.

China Grove Police Chief Andrew Deal indicated at the scene that the driver was able to exit the vehicle, but that she sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

The one block stretch of North Main Street between Vance Street and Church Street was temporarily closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
