SALISBURY — A man has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon after deputies said he rammed a woman’s car with his own multiple times.
Deputies initially responded at approximately 5 a.m. to the 2200 block of Old Beatty Ford Road, where a woman said that she was being chased while driving down the road by another car, said Captain Mark McDaniel, a spokesperson for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, the woman told them that the incident began when the man rammed her car with his vehicle twice in the 1900 block of Rockwell Road.
The victim said she attempted to drive away, at which point the man then pursued her at high rates of speed to the intersection of Old Beatty Ford and Lentz roads, where deputies intervened, said McDaniel.
The man, identified as 37-year-old Marty Allen McClure, was arrested on scene and charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. During the arrest, deputies reportedly learned that the tag on McClure’s vehicle was fictitious and that his license was revoked. He received additional charges of driving while his license was revoked and displaying a fictitious tag.
McClure was transported to the Rowan County Detention Center, where McDaniel said he is being held without bond due to the domestic nature of the charges.
