High school boys tennis: Rowan players qualify for individual regionals

The South Piedmont Conference Tennis Tournament was an all-day affair at Concord’s Les Myers Park on Tuesday.
The Central Carolina Conference Tournament got started in Lexington on Tuesday and after a day off for rain was completed on Thursday.
In the nine-team SPC Tournament, seven singles players and seven doubles teams advanced to the regional.
In the CCC Tournament, which is split into 1A and 2A portions, three 2A singles players and three 2A doubles teams advance to regional play in Salisbury. The 1A teams will send one singles player and one doubles team to the regional in Elkin.
East Rowan — Thomas Stokes advanced in singles in the SPC tourney, while the East team of Owen Kesler/Blake Mathews advanced in doubles.
Carson — The doubles team of Karson Sloop/Austin Atwell was tournament runner-up and advanced.
West Rowan — TBA
South Rowan — The doubles team of Carston Carey and Sawyer Basinger placed fourth and advanced.
North Rowan — TBA
Salisbury — The doubles team of AJ Jarrell/Gray Davis won the CCC Tournament.
The doubles team of Reid Hlavacek/Soyer Cornelison was runner-up in the CCC Tournament.
Bryant Davis was the singles champion in the CCC Tournament.
Ben Lawson lost in Thursday’s third-place match.
