When will work begin on the Empire Hotel?
For over one half of a century, I have read stories in the Salisbury Post about the proposed renovation of the old hotel on South Main Street. To date, I have seen very little done to the building except some improvement to the outside of the building. It is time that a story was put into the paper about what is really taking place and whether the building is going to be renovated and used. I don’t think I will be around for another half of a century.
Robert Burns wrote a poem many years ago titled: “To a Mouse on Turning Her Up in Her Nest with the Plough.” Probably the most famous line in this poem was: “The best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray.” Please tell us, is this what has really happened to this old hotel?
