SALISBURY — Salisbury and Gray Stone battled to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night at Ludwig Stadium.

Down 1-0 at halftime, the Hornets (9-4-3) got the equalizer on a goal by freshman Stephany Quintero. Maddie Crabb had the assist.

Georgia Sangster scored for Gray Stone (10-4-2). Megan Vance had the assist.

“We had a lot of positivity to take away from the match tonight,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “We were down and didn’t give up or in. I feel as if we started off both halves with a ton of momentum and didn’t relinquish it easily or often. Our backline of Luna Nunez Velazquez, Stella Koontz, Lola Koontz and Meredith Williams was outstanding. I need to do a better job of rotating players in and keeping girls fresh. Cora Wymbs, Liz Escobar, Tiffany Huerta and Addie Griffith all contributed as well. We were a couple of near misses away from reversing last year’s defeat. Instead, we settle for a draw.”

Next up for the Hornets is another non-conference matchup on Thursday night at Concord when SHS takes on coach Taylor Strode and his Spiders. Game time is 6 p.m.
