Free Falling: One arrested, warrants issued on four others after stolen credit cards used to book skydiving trip

ROWAN COUNTY — One person has been arrested and deputies are searching for four more after they allegedly used stolen credit card information to book a skydiving trip.
The investigation began after Piedmont Skydiving, which utilizes Mid-Carolina Regional Airport, was notified by credit card companies that multiple card holders were disputing charges from November, according to a release from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The November charges were used to book skydiving trips online using stolen credit cards.
Five people then went to Piedmont Skydiving and allegedly used their real information, including name, date of birth, address and driver’s license numbers, to fill out liability waivers. The business also took photographs of the people as part of the experience.
Deputies were able to utilize that information during the investigation and took out arrest warrants one count of obtaining property by false pretenses for 23-year-old Shyia Gatlin, 31-year-old Maurice Dermont Hunter Jr., 24-year-old Jaylah Simone Hyter and 25-year-old Alexis Monique Chisholm, according to the release. Deputies also reportedly took out warrants for two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses for 24-year-old Michael-Chase Gregory Gatling. All five are listed in the release as Charlotte residents.
Chisholm was located and arrested on Wednesday, April 24, in Anson County, according to the release. She was placed in the Anson County Detention Center and given a $1,000 bond.
