High school girls track and field: Northwest wins SPC title

CONCORD — Northwest Cabarrus won the South Piedmont Conference Championship Meet for girls track and field on Thursday.
The Trojans amassed 149,5 points with a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 scoring system to top Lake Norman Charter (128), host Robinson (126), East Rowan (76), Central Cabarrus (56), South Rowan (55.5), Carson (33), West Rowan (31) and Concord (26).
East’s Sadie Featherstone won the 300 hurdles in 47.31 seconds, while Jasmyne Brown cleared 9 feet, 6 inches to win the pole vault.
East got thirds from Lelu Hill in the long jump, Jadyn Featherstone in the pole vault, Iyanna Lynch Berry in the triple jump and Isis Smith in the shot put.
Macy Miller cleared 5-2 to win the high jump for the Raiders. Mesiah Howell had a second in the 200 and a third place in the 100.
South’s 4×800 relay team of Gracie Hinson, Blythe Elliott, Brinley Patterson and Madison Beaver placed second.
Carson’s Cadi Joyner was second in the high jump. Julia Burleson had a third in the 3200.
Skyy Ruben led West with a winning throw in the shot put (33-6).
