SALISBURY — Project Light Rowan held a two-hour prayer rally at Varick Auditorium on the Livingstone College campus on Saturday in collaboration with Livingstone College and Pray Rowan. The purpose of the rally, held from 10 a.m. to noon, was to bring unity in the community in order to fight human trafficking in Rowan County.

There were over 100 in attendance. Pastors and leaders from all over Rowan County came to individually pray over the 12 hot spot areas of human trafficking. Dr. Jim Duncan, executive director of Project Light Rowan and Dr. State Alexander of Livingstone College, officiated the rally. Pastor Derek Hawkins, Promise City Church, prayed over the NAACP, Rev. Otis Byrd, Livingstone College prayed over colleges and universities. County Commissioner Greg Edds prayed over municipalities. Dr. Alberta Mclaughlin prayed over law enforcement. Pastor Brad Jenkins of Chapel Street Baptist Church prayed over first responders. Jasmine Shakir with Novant Health prayed over hospitals. Jerry Garrison of The Garrison Venue prayed over men’s groups. Judy Whitehead from House of Living Stones prayed over the Latino community. Pastor Billy Rollins of F3 Church prayed over hotels and motels. Pastor David Franks of First Reformed Church of Landis prayed over churches. Pastor Kyle Aielio of Bethel Baptist Church prayed over children K-12. Pastor Vaughn Dalrymple of PPAT Patriotic prayed over businesses. Music was performed by The Livingstone College Worship Team, Alan Murrah Worship Team and Linda Lee.
