SALISBURY — One person was injured after a two-vehicle collision on East Innes Street left their vehicle overturned on Friday.

Emergency personnel responded to East Innes Street near the Newsome Road intersection at approximately 1:43 p.m. on Friday in reference to a vehicle collision resulting in one person entrapped in their car, said Salisbury Battalion Chief Shawn McBride.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found one person entrapped in a red sedan that had ended up turned onto the passenger side, said Salisbury Fire Chief Bob Parnell. Another vehicle involved in the crash had been pulled into a nearby gas station parking lot, off the road.

Firefighters worked to secure the person in the red sedan, who had been trapped in their seatbelt. Parnell said that the firefighters were forced to cut away the roof of the car to gain access to the patient, at which point firefighters braced them from underneath to take their weight off the seatbelt before cutting it away.

After the person was rescued from the sedan, they were placed into an ambulance and transported without lights or sirens to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
