SALISBURY — The Rowan Chamber of Commerce had a very successful trip to Raleigh on May 7. More than 20 business and community leaders participated in the trip to meet with cabinet officials and members of the general assembly to advocate for the community’s priority projects.

“We met with our four state legislators representing Rowan County, other House and Senate elected officials, and several cabinet level officials, including the North Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Joey Hopkins. The meetings highlighted Rowan’s priority projects, featuring the Northern Rowan Connector project, which will provide better transportation access for East Spencer, Spencer and High Rock Lake,” said chamber President Elaine Spalding.

The meetings started at noon in Raleigh with local state legislators: Sen. Carl Ford, Rep. Harry Warren, Rep. Julia Howard and Rep. Kevin Crutchfield. In the afternoon, various meetings were held with Senate and House elected officials and key staffers. The chamber group joined the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance for a reception and then returned to Salisbury.
