SALISBURY — The Rowan County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to allow for citizen input on the proposed budget during its upcoming meeting on Monday.
The budget was presented to the commissioners by County Manager Aaron Church during the meeting on May 20, at which point they set the hearing for Monday and called a special meeting for 6 p.m. on June 24 to discuss the budget further.
The proposed budget can be found on the county website. If the proposed budget is approved without changes, the overall county tax rate would stay the same while several county departments would increase their fees. Miller’s Ferry, Rockwell Rural and Rowan-Iredell fire departments have also proposed tax increases within their districts, with Miller’s Ferry and Rowan-Iredell requesting an approximately two-cent raise and Rockwell Rural requesting less than a one-cent raise.
Anyone who wishes to speak about the budget will have three minutes.

- Church will present the commissioners with information about a proposed fire service district change.
