SALISBURY — Police are investigating a shooting after a man showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound on Saturday.
Officers responded to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center after they were notified that a man had showed up there at approximately 2:15 a.m. with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, said Sergeant Justin Crotty, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department.
Officers spoke with the man, who Crotty said told conflicting stories about where and how the shooting occurred. The officers were reportedly able to locate a potential location for the shooting without the man’s assistance and spoke to a person on the scene.
The person at the scene said that they had shot the victim, but told the officers that it had been done in self-defense, said Crotty.
The information and evidence has been turned over to the District Attorney’s office for a decision on potential prosecution, said Crotty. No arrests were made in the case.
