SALISBURY — The sheriff’s office has taken out warrants for the arrest of a man who deputies said sold his house once before fraudulently selling it a second time.

Deputies were initially contacted on Friday by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, who said that they had received a report of fraud that had occurred in Rowan County, said Captain Mark McDaniel, public information officer for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives then spoke with the person who made the report, who told them that on May 22 in China Grove they had met a man, who they identified as Maryuri Flores, to purchase a single-wide trailer, said McDaniel. The victim said that he had paid the man $12,500 and received a notarized bill of sale for the trailer, but when he went to the trailer, located in the 400 block of Park Road, another man answered the door and said that he had also bought it for $10,000.

A deputy reportedly spoke with the representatives of the owners of the land, Lexington-based 40 Oaks Properties, who forwarded their records about the property to the sheriff’s office. Those records revealed that a man named Maryuri Flores Hernandez had owned the property, but that he had used a false Social Security number to buy it, said McDaniel.

The deputies then took warrants for the arrest of Hernandez for using or uttering a forged instrument and for obtaining property by false pretenses, said McDaniel. As of Tuesday morning, Hernandez had not been arrested.
