A variety of free, fun entertainment is being offered throughout the summer as part of Faith’s Summer Concert Series, and two such events are taking place this weekend.

All of the events have been planned by the Fun in Faith Committee, chaired by Dale Poole, mayor pro tem. This committee has “worked really hard,” he said, and shared that all this is done through local sponsors in town and around Salisbury.

The first of multiple concerts is planned for June 22 from 7:30-10 p.m. This street dance will feature The Extraordinaires and will be held on Main Street.

The summer series is also presenting a Show Your Faith Series with an open mic night for Christian music scheduled for June 23 from 6-8 p.m. at the Faith Legion Park Bandstand, 1019 Gantt St., Faith.

In addition to the music, there will also be a minister meet and greet time.

Peeler said at the present time there are five vocalists participating in the event sharing two songs each; however, they are hoping to have at least five additional participants performing during the evening.

Those wishing to be a part of the open mic night can still sign up by calling or texting to 704-202-3123 and provide the participant’s name and song so they can be added to their list.

The only thing that those who are performing would need to bring is their own CD or music. The sound system will be provided.

There will also be food trucks available.

Additional features of the Fun in Faith will be weekly markets in the park, planned for Wednesdays from 5:30-8 p.m. and some Saturdays, Peeler said.
