SALISBURY — An incident involving a large vehicle resulted in a stretch of Jake Alexander Boulevard being shut down during the day on Friday.
Linda McElroy, the communications director for the city of Salisbury, confirmed on Friday that a line near the intersection of Morlan Park Road and Jake Alexander Boulevard was a damaged as a result of a truck or tractor that make contact with the line. The incident occurred around noon.
The incident is believed to have caused a sort of domino effect as power lines at nearby Gold Hill Street were damaged causing sparks and a small fire in a residential yard.
Commuters in the area were rerouted while repair crews worked to clean up the scene.
The clean up is expected to take approximately 2 to 3 more hours.
