Staff report

PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Rowan Little League 10U all-star team crushed East Surry 10-0 in the final and won the District 2 championship on Wednesday night.

Rowan’s next action will be in the state tournament in Rocky Mount, starting on July 12.

Rowan earlier won the 8U and 12U District 2 titles.

The 8U team is hosting the state tournament at Salisbury Community Park. That starts July 5.

The 12U team will play in the state tournament hosted by Lake Norman Little League. That will be a strong field, including Rowan, Pitt County, Mallard Creek and three more district champions. The state winner goes directly to the World Series, as North Carolina is the host of that event. The state runner-up will get a second chance to qualify for the World Series by winning the Southeast Regional.
