The Carolina Artists guild welcomes NC artist Craig Richards for oil painting demo

The Carolina Artists guild will be offering an interactive mini workshop at its meeting on Thursday, July 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (100 North Jackson Street entrance) in Salisbury. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for for meeting and refreshments. The program start at 7 p.m. Guests are welcome.
The July program will feature an oil painting demo by N.C. American Impressionist Artist Craig Richards. Richards is an avid studio and plein aire artist. He works from his studio at The Art Place of Stokes in Danbury. He has taught art workshops and classes in plein aire for decades and also teaches at the Sawtooth School for Visual Arts in Winston-Salem.
Richards is a retired minister and teacher. He loves the outdoors, which inspires many of his landscape paintings. His website is ArtistCraigRichards.com.
The 34th annual Art Expo Show and Sale is scheduled for Sept. 17-20 at the Salisbury Civic Center. All artwork will be judged and cash awards will be awarded to the artists at the meet the artists reception. This is a member-only show but non-members can enter if membership fees are paid by the entry date of Sept. 3. Each artist can enter up to 10 pieces of art. Art categories are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, drawing, mixed media, photography and fluid art. Carolina Artists will also welcome sculpture as a new category.
The Art Expo is adding a fun feature to the 2024 show. An artist showcase gift shop will be available featuring artist prints, small artwork, hand-crafted jewelry and more.
The Carolina Artists guild welcomes supporters and donors. The donations are tax deductible and helps the group provide activities that benefit the community. Donors receive special recognition in the art show catalog, social media, print marketing plus public recognition at the reception. Supporters/donors will receive exclusive pre-exhibit access to purchase artwork during the Expo. Member artist Dr. Mary-Louise Hooper will be teaching a fun six-week beginning watercolor class in Landis at the Joyce Darling Gallery. Class cost is $125. Beginners welcome. A materials list is available.
Rhonjlin Hampton Cardwell, a Carolina Artists member, has had a successful Santa’s Workshop Summer Art Program for 20 children. Several guild members participated as guest artists.   An art exhibit featuring the art created by the students will be July 29-Aug. 4. A reception to meet the young artists is planned from 3-5 p.m. on Aug. 4 and will be open to the public. The students will be provided a pizza party. The art exhibit will be at the Joyce Darling Gallery in Landis.
July is the perfect time to join The Carolina Artists. The guild is looking forward to welcoming new members as the group learns, creates and shares art. Artists, photographers and art lovers are encouraged attend monthly meetings. Guests always welcome.
