Downed tree disrupts power in Spencer

SPENCER — A tree collapsed Friday morning in Spencer, falling across North Yadkin Avenue and bringing down with it a utility pole.
The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. between First Street and Newton Street. The Spencer Fire Department announced that the road would remain closed until it could be cleared.
Power was temporarily disrupted for nearby residents although it was almost immediately restored. The Duke Energy Outage Map reflected zero customers without power at 8:56 a.m.
A notification from Spectrum indicated that “there is a service outage affecting (the area).”
The alert estimated a 2 p.m. restoration.
Elsewhere in the county, 126 Duke Energy customers were reportedly without power. Those outages are impacting residents near Cauble Road off of Hwy. 601 in Franklin.
According to the Duke Energy Outage Map, the disruption was caused by “fallen trees or limbs damaging (the) equipment.”
Restoration is anticipated by noon.
