SALISBURY — Motorists should be advised that construction on the Airport Road bridge over Grants Creek will require a detour for the next several months.

Senator Carl Ford’s office issued a release indicating that N.C. Department of Transportation contractor NJR Group, will begin replacing the bridge on Monday. As a result, Airport Road will be closed to through traffic starting at 9 a.m. that morning.

The detour route will utilize: U.S. Hwy. 29 to Rowan Mill Road to N.C. Hwy. 150.

The operation is expected to be completed by late November. Attempts to reach the NCDOT and the contractor for comment were unsuccessful.
