SALISBURY — In a homecoming, New Hope Baptist Church is welcoming a new member to its clergy.
Pastor Roland Mills is a graduate of North Rowan High School and Ambassador Baptist College with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies and a master’s degree in ministries.
After graduating from Bible college, Mills moved to New York in 2001 as a missionary where he, along with his wife and seven children, started Shalom Baptist Church in 2003.
After more than 20 years as pastor, following the leading of the Lord, Mills resigned his position in April and moved back to North Carolina. He has now accepted the position of assistant pastor at his home church, New Hope Baptist Church, where his son Samuel Mills is the pastor.
“New Hope Baptist Church is grateful for God’s provision and excited about the future. We are looking forward to “great and mighty things” (Jeremiah 33:3),” said an email from one church member.
New Hope Baptist Church is located at 830 Choate Road in Salisbury.
