Little League softball: Rowan girls 2-0 in regional

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Rowan Little League’s 12U softball girls have won big in their first two games in the Southeast Regional.

Rowan routed Georgia 12-0 on Sunday and won 10-3 against the Tennessee state champs on Monday.

Bristol Smith pitched a two-hitter against Georgia. Ten hits, aggressive base running and a game-ending Rowan double play highlighted the action on Monday. Rowan led all the way in both games.

The SE Regional is held in Warner Robins, Ga., from July 21-26. The SE Regional winner advances to the World Series. Teams entered in the regional are Rowan, Lake Mary, Fla.; Harris County, Ga.; Taylors, SC; Clarksville, Tenn.; McLean, Va.; and Huntington, W. Va.

The Rowan 12U team includes Evee Baxter, Harper Deal, Megan Linebarger, Mak Melchor, Peyton Mulkey, Mary Kate Okula, Ashlynn Pfister, Leniyah Ratcliffe, Khloe Ratliff, Tenley Shell, Jaycee Small, Bristol Smith and Emory Stewart.

Brett Mulkey is the manager. Coaches are Jac Mulkey and Jeff Bernhardt.

Games are streamed on ESPN+.

Florida and Virginia had impressive first-round wins. Those teams are meeting in a key game on Monday afternoon.
