Cobb Hightower, third-round pick (No. 88) of the San Diego Padres, flew to Arizona on Sunday.
Hightower’s destination will be the Padres’ Sports Complex in Arizona.
The Hightower family and the Padres reached an agreement on a signing bonus, and the young shortstop will go through a battery of tests and physicals for a day or two.
Assuming all goes well with the doctors, the 19-year-old’s signing should follow, and the amount of the signing bonus will be released by the team.
Hightower had some negotiating leverage as a UNC commit.
