SALISBURY — Livingstone College marked a significant milestone recently with its seventh $1 million contribution in just seven months, a testament to its rapid growth and development.
The generous donor, who prefers to remain anonymous, has once again demonstrated their support for the college. The contributions represent the largest monetary donations from an individual donor in the college’s 145-year history.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the donor for their unwavering commitment to Livingstone College,” Marketing and Communications Assistant Director Garette Hunter said in an email last week. “Currently, the college is revitalizing two historic residence halls, Tucker and Dancy halls, and rooms at the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management facility. Also, the college is renovating its dining facility, Aggrey Cafeteria.
“The city of Salisbury is dedicated to acknowledging the economic opportunities that the college affords by producing graduates who contribute to the community. For instance, Livingstone College has recently launched a biomanufacturing training program as part of the Biden Build Back Better Initiative, aiming to benefit underrepresented populations in North Carolina. Livingstone College received $1 million in laboratory equipment to execute this initiative.”
According to Hunter’s email, the donation will “continue to propel the college’s progress and growth by bolstering its infrastructure and funding future capital ventures.”
