RALEIGH — Following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not seek re-election, all 20 members of the North Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in the upcoming November election.

“Vice President Harris has spent the past four years as a governing partner to President Biden, further building on an already distinguished career as a district attorney, attorney general, and United States Senator from the nation’s most populous state,” a release from the caucus said. “Her extensive leadership experiences and qualifications make it clear that she is the best choice for Democrats to continue leading our nation forward.”

Senator Dan Blue, Democratic leader of the state, echoed those sentiments.

“No one is better qualified or better prepared than Vice President Harris to prosecute the case against Donald Trump,” he said. “I am confident that Vice President Harris’s leadership will defeat Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans up and down the ballot this November.”

The release added, “As a prominent advocate on crucial issues such as reproductive freedom, justice and democracy, Vice President Harris represents the best option to mobilize key constituencies within the Democratic coalition, and to offer a stark contrast to Donald Trump. The North Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus stands united in support of Kamala Harris for president. With her leadership, Democrats will continue the legacy of progress and resilience established by President Biden.”
