CHINA GROVE — Chris Owen won the Rowan Masters recently at Warrior Golf Club, so it was no surprise that Owen added another club championship on Sunday.

Owen shot 68-69 — 137 to win the Championship Flight. He overcame a two-shot deficit. Recent East Rowan graduate Landon Merrell, a Coker signee, shot a sizzling 66 for medalist honors in the first round and a 75 on Sunday to finish at 141.

Robert Shoaf successfully defended his Senior club championship with rounds of 70-71 — 141. Jim Christy was the leader after the first round with a 69 and shot 76 on Sunday for a 145 total. Richard Cobb shot rounds of 72 and 73 and tied Christy for second.

William Little shot 78-70 — 148 to win the First Flight.

There were two hole-in-ones made in the tournament on Sunday, with Steve Yates and Billy James acing the No. 6 hole.
