Shots fired into car, injuring one

One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting at the intersection of Majolica and Sherrills Ford roads Wednesday night about 11:40 p.m., according to the Rowan County Sheriffs Office.

Captain Mark McDaniel said that the driver of one vehicle told deputies he was at the intersection when another car pulled up alongside him and and someone inside fired shots at his car. The driver said the passenger in his car was injured and he took the person to Rowan Novant Medical Center for treatment. Injuries were not life threatening, but per protocol, hospital staff contacted police.
