School supply drives by two law enforcement agencies

Both the Kannapolis Police Department and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office are hosting back-to-school supply drives for students in their communities.

The Kannapolis Police Department is spearheading a collection of both school supplies and toiletries for local students in grades K -12, and the Sheriffs Benevolent Fund of the RCSO is collecting school supplies.

In Kannapolis, toiletry items that will be accepted include new, unused shampoo, condition, bar soap, lotion, deodorant, hairbrushes/combs, underwear, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, chapstick, tissues, hand sanitizer, hair ties, wipes and shaving cream.

Needed school supplies include bookbags, notebook paper, binders, pens/pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, scissors, glue, pencil boxes, folders and colored pencils/crayons.

Donations can be dropped off in the lobby of Kannapolis City Hall and Police Department at 401 Laureate Way, Kannapolis. Donations will be accepted until Aug. 15.

In Rowan County, needed supplies for student in K-12 include Kleenex, dry erase markers, No. 2 pencils, pens, Clorox wipes, crayons, headphones, Ziploc bags, backpacks or bookbags and disposable cups. Financial donations to purchase supplies will also be accepted. Checks can be made to the Rowan County Sheriffs Benevolent Fund.

Donations can be dropped off at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 232 North Main Street, Salisbury.
