SALISBURY — Corlis “CoCo” Phifer, a housekeeper at Trinity Oaks senior living community, and Janice Osborne, a pharmacy tech at LSA Pharmacy, both based in Salisbury, received the Lutheran Services Carolinas’ Loyal Service (LSC) Award for 2024.

This peer-nominated award recognizes teammates who fulfill the organization’s mission by serving clients and residents in an extraordinary way. Only seven out of 2,500-plus teammates from across the Carolinas are honored each year.

LSC is a nonprofit organization serving more than 10,000 North and South Carolina residents. It provides an array of services including foster care and adoption, mental health and refugee resettlement programs, disaster response and more. In addition, LSC operates 11 senior living communities and other senior services in North Carolina and offers recovery programs in South Carolina.

Phifer has been with LSC since 1998 and was nominated by Trinity Oaks Executive Director Bill Johnson.

“Over CoCo’s many years of service, she has been consistently reliable, punctual, loyal to the mission and positive in her manner,” Johnson said. “She provides the very best service to her beloved residents. Her pleasant kindness, quick wit and easy laugh put people at ease. She exhibits grace in action every day.”

Osborne has been with LSC since 2004 and was nominated by Pharmacy Tech Georgia Kendall.

“Once you meet Janice Osborne, you won’t forget her,” said Kendall. “She is a joy to be around. Janice’s teammates love working with her, and we all miss her when she goes on vacation. Everything she does is for the benefit of others. Janice always goes the extra mile.”

Phifer and Osborne received their awards at a June 20 luncheon held at Trinity Oaks.

“Our Loyal Service Award winners are the heart and soul of LSC,” said LSC President and CEO Ted W. Goins Jr. “They embody our organizational vision, laid out in John 10:10: ‘I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.'”
