High school volleyball roundup: SPC wins for Cougars, Raiders, Falcons

GRANITE QUARRY — Carson’s volleyball team swept East Rowan on Wednesday in a battle of teams that entered the match undefeated in the South Piedmont Conference.

Reese Joyner was the big hitter for the Cougars (5-4, 3-0) in a 25-17, 25-20 and 25-8 victory with 15 kills. Katy Falkowski had 11.

Alana Herring served four aces for Carson.

Kaylee Thonen had 15 digs. Rylee Hedrick had 20 assists, while Hailey Moose had 11.

Cameron Ostle’s six kills led the Mustangs (5-4, 3-1).  Alli Corl had four.

Madalynn Tigert served four aces. Ella Lowry had four blocks.

Ostle had 12 digs, while Jordan Dry had 10. Jacee Eudy had 11 assists.

LANDIS — With lots of support from the Raider Rowdies, South Rowan stayed undefeated on Wednesday with a 25-11, 25-14 and 25-10 breeze against Northwest Cabarrus.

Avery Fisher led South (6-0, 4-0) with nine kills. Meredith Faw and Meghan Eagle had five each.

Faw served seven aces. Danica Krieg had four blocks.

Campbell Withers had 12 digs. Eagle had nine.

Eagle had 10 assists, while Raegan Shell had nine.

Northwest won the jayvee matchup.

MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan got its first win for new coach Tiffany Brooks by pounding Robinson 25-12, 25-6 and 25-12 on Wednesday.

Lydia Wilson had 13 kills to lead the Falcons (1-5, 1-3). Skyy Ruben had six kills, while Sophia Blackledge had five.

Raney Phelps served five aces.

Wilson and Lainey Sweet had 13 digs each.
