High school volleyball roundup: East, South, West, Carson win

CONCORD — South Rowan cruised to a sweep of Central Cabarrus, 25-13, 25-15 and 25-14, for another South Piedmont Conference win.

Meredith Faw had 12 kills for the Raiders (7-0, 5-0) in Monday’s match, with Meghan Eagle getting eight and Clancy Street five.

Eagle had 12 assists, with Raegan Shell getting five.

Campbell Withers had 15 digs. Eagle had 10, while Faw had five.

• South’s jayvees (5-2, 3-2) had a tougher matchup but came back to win after losing the first set. Olivia Eagle had six kills. Aubree Knight had 12 assists. Lexi Parks led in digs with 15.

TYRO — East Rowan won at West Davidson in an exciting non-conference matchup on Monday.

Jacee Eudy had 46 assists as the Mustangs (9-4) won 26-24, 21-25, 25-21 and 29-27.

Cameron Ostle had 23 kills. Alli Corl had 19, with Kady Collins adding nine and Madalynn Tigert seven.

Tigert served five aces. Ella Lowry had four blocks.

Jordan Dry had 23 digs, with Ostle getting 18 and Corl 17.

Dry keyed serve receive.

Collins made clutch plays at the end of the third set, while a big finish by Corl made the difference in the fourth set.

East plays South in a big match on Wednesday.

MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan won its second straight South Piedmont Conference matchup by sweeping Concord on Monday.

Sophia Blackledge had six aces and 18 digs to lead the Falcons.

Skyy Ruben had seven kills and four blocks for  West (2-5, 2-3).

Lydia Wilson had six kills. Maddie Sides had five.

Lainey Sweet and Wilson had seven digs apiece.

Carson stayed undefeated in the South Piedmont Conference with Monday’s sweep of Robinson.

The Cougars played at Mount Pleasant on Tuesday and will take on North Stanly on Thursday.

SALISBURY — Pine Lake Prep beat Salisbury 25-12, 25-20 and 25-20 in non-conference action on Monday.

Pine Lake Prep is 3-1. The loss was to Lake Norman Charter, a strong 3A.

The Hornets (0-2) got eight kills from Ava Morris, seven from Ashley Yang, six from Dayami Acevedo and five from Carmen McQueen.

Yang had 20 assists.

Acedvedo had 18 digs, with Addie Myers getting 16, Morris 11 and Yang nine.
