SALISBURY — Seniors David Austin and Hines Busby scored for Salisbury’s boys soccer team in a 2-0 win against Davie on Wednesday.
Austin and Sam Goodman connected on a one-two, with Austin beating two defenders to score the first goal for the Hornets (4-0-1) midway through the first half.
Busby, Austin’s fellow captain, scored his first goal of the season with 30 seconds left in the first half, with Kevin Reyes assisting.
“It was fitting for our two seniors to step up,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “They have the most experience and flat out got it done when it was needed most. I am proud of the entire group. Overcoming the heat, playing on an early release day, dealing with a pushed back start time, and battling a 4A school is quite a list for such a young team to overcome.”
Salisbury got excellent play from Mohammed Jabateh, Johnathan Barrera and Alejandro Mercado Sanchez.
“Several of our players are coming around,” Parrish said. “It is tough to learn on the fly, particularly in so many balanced matches, but there is definite improvement.”
Salisbury returned to action Thursday night against Mount Pleasant.
