SALISBURY — Two goals by Hines Busby, just 74 seconds apart, lifted Salisbury to a 2-0 win over Statesville on Tuesday.

The Hornets (6-0-1) were able to stay undefeated in the non-conference matchup at Ludwig Stadium.

The assists came from Finnegan Avery on a punt and from David Austin.

“Those were highlights, but otherwise a lackluster evening,” Salisbury head coach Matt Parrish said. “We just didn’t play very well. I think we were fortunate in more than one regard. Part of it is my fault, ending last week with two games and starting this one with another one with only off days in between isn’t the best scheduling. We have a couple of days to practice before our next match so we can address some glaring issues. Next week is our first three-match week, so improvements are needed soon.”

The Greyhounds are 1-6-1.

Next up for the Hornets is a visit from Randleman on Monday.

Byron Garcia had an assist in the South Piedmont Conference struggle.

Darrell Shrewsbury made 11 saves for East.
