LANDIS — Carson’s volleyball team stayed undefeated in the South Piedmont Conference on Wednesday with a road sweep of rival South Rowan.

Carson (11-4, 6-0) found a way to pull out the first set 31-29. South (7-3, 5-2) had every chance to win that one.

The Cougars controlled the next two sets and won 25-18 and 25-20. South made a late run to make the third set respectable. Carson led 6-0 at the outset.

Carson had a power advantage and had 48 kills to South’s 25. Carson won despite missing 12 serves and making 16 hitting errors.

Reese Joyner had 13 kills for the Cougars. Tasean Perkins had nine, while Riley Wilhite had eight.

Rylee Hedrick had 34 assists. Kaylee Thonen had 18 digs. Hedrick had 14, and Alana Herring had 10.

Meredith Faw had 10 kills for the Raiders.

Danica Krieg had three blocks.

Faw had 17 digs, with Avery Fisher getting 15, Meghan Eagle 14 and Campbell Withers 13.

Eagle had 14 assists. Raegan Shell had eight.

GRANITE QUARRY — West Rowan won a five-set match at East Rowan on Wednesday, the biggest victory of the season so far for the Falcons, their first county win and their fifth victory in a row after an 0-5 start.

The Falcons won 25-21, 12-25, 19-25, 25-20 and 15-12.

West (5-5, 5-3) had not posted stats as of Thursday evening.

Cameron Ostle led East (11-6, 4-3) with 23 kills, while Alli Corl had 15.

Madalynn Tigert and Jordan Dry had thee aces each.

Jacee Eudy had 44 assists.

Ostle and Tigert had 19 digs each. Dry had 18, while Corl had 16.
