ROCKWELL — “Rise Up” is missions conference theme this weekend at Lyerly Evangelical Church, located at 1320 Crescent Road, Rockwell.

On Saturday, the church will host helicopter rides at the Saleeby-Fisher YMCA, 790 Crescent Road, in conjunction with JAARS (Jungle Aviation And Relay Service). This ministry operates out of Waxhaw, and provides transportation by helicopters, airplanes, boats, 4-wheel vehicles and motorcycles for missionaries in remote areas of the world.

All proceeds from the $25 helicopter rides will go to the JAARS ministry. Rides are on a first-come, first-served basis from 2-5 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the event’s status will be announced on the church’s website, GraceInTruth.org.

The church will provide free hot dogs, chips and drinks to the first 250 visitors. There will also be a crossword scavenger hunt for a chance to win one of two $50 cash prizes.

The missions conference continues on Sept. 8 at the church with breakfast at 8:30 a.m., missionary reports, special music, games, worship and lunch for everyone in attendance.

Dr. W.C. Gaither Jr., is pastor.
