SALISBURY — The Salisbury-based nonprofit The Bread Riot will host its annual Riot at New Sarum fundraiser this Saturday.

Attendees can enjoy a fun evening celebrating all things local while helping to support Bread Riot programs in Rowan County.

Live music will be performed throughout the event. Persimmon Jam will kick off the entertainment with original music for kids and families at 4 p.m., followed by featured acts CJ Sunshine, Landon Byrd and David Gillespie. Headlining band Divided by 4 will take the stage at 8 p.m.

Bread Riot will hold a silent auction of original art, event tickets and themed gift baskets, all donated by community members and local businesses, plus hold a 50/50 cash raffle with the winner announced at 9 p.m.

Families are invited to enjoy free kids activities, including fruit and veggie canvas art, games, organic face painting, and balloon creations by Hay You, the balloon twister well known at the Salisbury Farmers Market.

There will be craft beer and other drinks available from New Sarum, food by Carter’s Craft Meats & BBQ and Kreyol Flavors, and shaved ice from Kona Ice of Salisbury. Attendees can also browse offerings from local makers and other vendors during the event.

Bread Riot thanks the many generous sponsors and donors who have contributed to the event. Proceeds will help Bread Riot purchase fresh produce from local farmers and provide food aid through partners like the Rowan-Salisbury School System, furthering Bread Riot’s mission to link farms to tables throughout the community.

The event will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. at New Sarum Brewing Company, located at 109 N. Lee Street.
